What is an Official ID?
First time here?- 1A code a person prints on their CV — like OFCL-7K2M-94PD. It points to one verified profile on Official. Common names can’t be confused; there is nothing to disambiguate.
- 2It says a verified profile exists. Identity checked against a government document; employment confirmed by former employers, not by the candidate. It does not tell you what is in the profile.
- 3Looking it up is not the same as seeing it. You’ll get enough to confirm the CV in your hand matches the profile. Employer names, titles and dates are shown only after the person approves your request — and you are not charged if they decline.
- 4If it doesn’t resolve, you’ll be told why — a likely typo, an identifier the person withdrew, or one they have since rotated. None of those is a verdict on the candidate.
The person can see that their identifier was looked up, and by whom. That is by design — it is how they know the mark on their CV is working.
